This turn in the story immediately made me feel claustrophobic/want to flee. Well captured! Flight is freedom, a hard drug to quit for people who lived with it seared in our bones as the only source of hope.
What you say about the writing process is the truest thing I have read. When we take the words out of our head, commit them to paper, metaphorically, we see who we really are if we are honest, and willing enough to dig deep. It is a mirror. Awareness is 90% of healing.
“I see you’ve come to your senses. Took you long enough.” - When I read this sentence, chills ran down my spine. Then I read this: “Yes, I did. You swiped my soul, and I’ve come to collect.”
The strength. The way she takes back her power. I cannot describe the way this made me feel.
that lastline!! just genuis.
And it is sooooo wonderful to think that Hope took you on your own healing journey, in a way
Thank you! Usually, when I read my past writing I cringe. This time I was doing a fist pump, silently, in my room. 😁
Totally unexpected. Especially because this was the second time. 🤯
Lol u know Hope pushed us both in many ways I think
A good final line!
Thank you! Uncharacteristically, I like it too. 😁
I think you peeked in through the window of my past life with this post.
It’s incredible to me, still, how words connect all of us.
Your comments and relatability mean a lot to me. 🥹

This response is so poetic, I love it. And true that.

I realized quite recently, how a lot of my editing process involved trying to take something back. But it’s already been said. And for a reason.
Thank you, your comment made me very happy. 🖤

Wow, thank you! So glad you could connect with it. 🖤
This series has taught me a lot about restraint in writing.
Sometimes we say more between the lines than in the actual words 🤍
