Hope in My Heart
Hope #23: Truth will out — Finally being seen

Recap: Hope escaped her former life to remake one for herself where she could be visible — away from an abusive husband. Encountering healing, and unexpected love, her heart grew stronger. Now it is time to return and stand up to those who put her down. She knows her children deserve her fight. She starts with letting her parents know the whole truth…
Hope’s Journey
“Believe me or not. My life with… with him, felt as if I was slowly being asphyxiated.” Luke reassured me with a squeeze of my hand.
I continued. Leaving nothing out. Filling my parents’ heads with purged images from my darkest times with the man they viewed as their son.
Tears streamed. Voices cracked.
Mum sat.
Dad came to my side, offering his arms. As he held me close, I pined for a father I should have had when it mattered.
“How can we help?” Dad was ready to amend.
We left with a plan and hope in my heart.

Author Note: If those who should be supporting you stand back with rose-tinted glasses, it would be natural to question yourself. Is it actually you, not them?
When Hope was with her husband it would have taken an enormous amount of courage to walk away and believe in her truth, particularly when the stakes were so high.
Leaving your children for your own sanity is in a way a selfless thing to do. Think about it.

Hope has hope. The arc of her coming home to herself is beautiful.
The ending...it made me emotional. Slightly bittersweet, but she loves herself now, that's a lot.
