A Rainbow for Hope
The twins nestled perfectly in my arms. Giggles bubbling. Planting rapid wet kisses in my hair.
The lawyers advised him not to meddle with my weekend custody. I hope for more access in the future. Whatever suits the kids.
Half a year has slipped by, spent screening out yesterday. Grappling with guilt before realising the choice I made — to pattern a new beginning — was life-saving, giving me the space to reassemble.
Now, I stride forward without glancing back. Proud that Luke and I are together in our autonomy — minds often soaring beyond the rainbow, and Grace fills my heart.
THE END
Note: Debdutta and I have worked on Hope’s life for almost six months, and it seemed right to end it on this episode. We never knew when that would happen. We set sail and were propelled by the winds from our narrator’s voyage.
Although we would probably have headed off in a different direction if I had not given the young woman two young children along the way. Not sure what possessed me. I was going for the anti-heroine, I think. However, Hope seemed to take Debdutta Pal and me over, and made her own life and decisions. Seems odd saying that, but it really felt that way.
I have been totally happy with this serial — and would not have wanted to embark upon it with anyone but Debdutta. She inspired me constantly.
As with all endings, even hopeful ones like this, a touch of sadness lingers. But I smile knowing there could well be someone like Hope out there - finding her moments of Grace.

I had never completed a series before Hope.
So that and a lot more wouldn't have been possible without you. 🖤
I could picture all four of them so clearly because of your words and details. I feel so light. 🥹
