Can I Learn to Love Me?
Hope #15: A dream gives Hope the permission she needs to live a little
100 word exactly serial fiction…

Recap: Feeling there was no other option Hope left her manipulative husband and young twins behind, and is creating a new, incognito life in a sprawling city. She’s accepted a job as an elderly lady’s companion, whom she finds inspiring. Now Hope needs to commit to living…
Last night I had a dream…
I was looking in a mirror. My face older. Hair streaked with gray. Two beautiful young women dressed identically walked into the room. My twins. They embraced me, then spoke in unison.
“A person cannot truly care for others until they love themselves.”
I awoke immediately. Eyes wide, heart racing.
My controlling husband had depleted my self-esteem, leaving me feeling inadequate in all aspects of my life.
I missed my girls, but for their sake, I needed to learn to accept myself. To love me. Perhaps then I would make a worthy mother.

Author reflection
Being a mum myself, I have found it a challenge to let Hope stay away from her young children. Even though it was a plot line that I created. However, I trust she knows her partner or other family members will take care of the wee ones, even if he did make her life hell. After all, a bad husband does not always make a terrible father.
BUT one thing I am sure of in life is — the need to love oneself…
Debdutta and I never talk about the plot — we each create as we go. Knowing Hope will show us the way :-)

I have the most realistic dreams right before I wake up. It's better than coffee. 😁
I spent so much time and energy searching for love, and I never realised, hey, you can love yourself. That's an option. And one we keep learning, again and again.
